New Special Train from Dhanbad to Delhi via CIC Route: Proposal Submitted to Railway Board, Approval Expected Soon!

New Special Train Proposal

The Dhanbad Railway Division has submitted a proposal to the Railway Board for the introduction of a new special train service from Dhanbad to Delhi, via the CIC section. This proposal is currently awaiting approval from the Railway Board, which is expected to make a decision on the matter on Monday or Tuesday. If approved, this new service will enhance connectivity between Dhanbad and the national capital, providing passengers with an additional travel option.

Existing Services and Passenger Demand

Currently, there is a special train operating between Dhanbad and Jammutavi, which also serves the Delhi route. The introduction of a second special train is anticipated due to the availability of an empty rake from a previously running train to Nashik Road, which was discontinued due to low passenger numbers. The Dhanbad Division is optimistic about utilizing this rake for the proposed Delhi service, which would benefit passengers traveling along this route.

Route Details and Future Developments

The proposed Delhi Special train will travel through several key stations, including Barkakana, Patratu, Khalari, Tory, Latehar, Daltanganj, Garhwa Road, Nagar Untari, Renukut, Chopan, Sobhadra, Chunar, Prayagraj, and Kanpur. Meanwhile, the Dhanbad to Nashik Road special train, which had been running since December twice a week, did not attain the expected passenger turnout, leading to discussions about extending the service to Lokmanya Tilak Terminal in Mumbai or possibly to Pune, as no direct train from Dhanbad currently serves that destination.
