The uncertainty surrounding the construction of the final ramp for the Ashok Rajpath double-decker flyover near Science College has finally ended. The Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRC) will now handle the construction of this specific ramp. This decision comes after an agreement between the bridge construction agency and metro officials to speed up work and avoid technical conflicts.
Why is the Metro Company building the flyover ramp?
The Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited (BRPNNL) requested the metro agency to take over this part of the project. The main reason is that the underground metro station and the flyover ramp are located in the exact same area near Science College.
If two different agencies worked separately, it would lead to digging the same place twice and could weaken the soil structure. By letting the metro company handle it, they can integrate the ramp’s foundation with the metro station’s roof, saving time and ensuring safety.
Project Cost and Benefits for Commuters
The total cost for the Ashok Rajpath double-decker flyover is approximately ₹422 crore. Since the metro company is taking over the ramp work, BRPNNL will transfer the necessary funds directly to them. Once completed, this ramp will allow vehicles to go straight from Gandhi Maidan to NIT Mor.
