Indian Railways has announced the launch of a new daily fast passenger train service between Patna Junction and Thawe Junction starting from March 15, 2026. This service is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters traveling between these two key locations via the Patliputra-Dighwara route. The train will consist of 24 coaches, including 22 general class coaches and 2 SLR vans, providing ample seating for unreserved passengers.

Train Timings and Operational Route Details
The new train service will operate daily under train numbers 55515 and 55516. Train 55515 will depart from Patna Junction at 12:10 PM and arrive at Thawe Junction by 7:00 PM. For the return journey, Train 55516 will leave Thawe at 8:05 PM and reach Patna at 3:20 AM the next day. The fare for this 175 km journey is expected to be between 105 and 110 rupees for general tickets.

New Halts for Chhapra-Anand Vihar Special Trains
In addition to the new passenger service, the Railway Administration has approved two-minute additional halts at Gopalganj station for several Holi special trains running between Chhapra and Anand Vihar Terminus. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav cleared these halts to help manage the heavy passenger rush during the festival season. MP Dr. Alok Kumar Suman had been advocating for these long-distance halts to assist local travelers.
- Train 05089/05090: Chhapra-ANVT-Chhapra Special will now stop at Gopalganj.
- Train 05071/05072: Chhapra-ANVT-Chhapra Special will also provide a 2-minute halt at Gopalganj.
- Amrit Bharat Express: New service 15133/15134 will operate via Thawe and Gorakhpur to Delhi.
- 28 Special Trains: East Central Railway has extended various services through March 2026 to handle the post-festival crowd.
