Devotees planning to visit the Thawe Bhawani Temple in Gopalganj for Chaitra Navratri 2026 have received major travel updates from the Indian Railways. The East Central Railway arranged special train services from Patna to manage the festival rush smoothly. A new fast passenger train will begin regular operations to make travel highly affordable compared to expensive bus journeys.
Train Timings and Schedule for Thawe Route
The Chaitra Navratri festival begins on March 19, 2026, and concludes on March 27. To handle the massive crowd, the railways listed multiple daily train options for pilgrims. The Patna-Thawe Express (03215) leaves Patna Junction at 12:10 PM and reaches Thawe at 05:40 PM. The Pataliputra-Gorakhpur Express (15079) departs from Pataliputra Junction at 03:15 PM and arrives at 08:00 PM.
Adding to these options, the new Patna-Thawe Fast Passenger (55515) is set to start regular service on March 15. This train features 24 total coaches and will depart Patna at 12:10 PM, reaching Thawe by 07:00 PM.
Ticket Prices and Travel Fares
Traveling by train to Thawe is significantly more economical than road travel. A regular bus ticket on this route costs around 500 rupees. In contrast, the unreserved general ticket on the new train is priced at just 110 rupees, making it the best option for common passengers. Sleeper class tickets cost approximately 150 rupees, while AC 3-Tier tickets range between 795 and 800 rupees.
Official Guidelines for Navratri Passengers
East Central Railway CPRO Saraswati Chandra confirmed the addition of these fast passenger services to support the high volume of devotees visiting the Thawe Durga Temple. Local MLA Mithilesh Tiwari also shared that regularizing these train services is a permanent benefit for the region during major festivals. Railway authorities advise all passengers to check live train status on official platforms like NTES, as slight timing adjustments may occur for crowd management. Enhanced security arrangements are already in place at Thawe Junction.
