What are the new operational routes?
The main highlight of this event is the completion of India’s first Ring Metro. The opening of the Pink Line extension from Majlis Park to Maujpur-Babarpur connects the final loop, creating a 71.56 km circle. This allows passengers to bypass busy central hubs like Rajiv Chowk when traveling between North and East Delhi.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Magenta Line extension from Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park. This section includes significant engineering feats, with tracks reaching a height of over 28 meters at certain points. These new sections will open to the public shortly after the inauguration.
- Pink Line Extension: 12.3 km (Majlis Park to Maujpur-Babarpur). Stations include Burari, Bhajanpura, and Yamuna Vihar.
- Magenta Line Extension: 9.92 km (Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park). Stations include Madhuban Chowk and Haiderpur Badli Mor.
Future Projects and Airport Connectivity
Apart from the inauguration, the PM will lay the foundation stone for Phase 5A projects. This includes a new underground Central Vista corridor connecting RK Ashram Marg to Indraprastha. Additionally, extensions on the Golden Line will be built to provide direct access to IGI Airport Terminal-1.
The new Golden Line extensions will be particularly beneficial for residents coming from Noida and Faridabad via the Violet Line, offering them a faster route to the airport. The event begins at 10:00 AM at the DDA Utsav Sthal, with the Prime Minister scheduled to address the gathering around noon.
