The division has already completed the installation in 140 coaches. Now, tenders have been issued to cover an additional 730 coaches. DRM Karunandhi Singh stated that the goal is to complete this work within the next one to one and a half years. This is part of a larger plan by the Railway Ministry to install cameras in 74,000 coaches and 15,000 locomotives nationwide.

Where will cameras be placed and how will they help?

High-resolution cameras will be fixed at entry gates, galleries, and other important spots in each coach. To protect passenger privacy, cameras will only focus on public areas. The recorded footage will be stored on secure servers, which the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and other agencies will use as evidence to catch criminals and take fast action.
