The Union Cabinet has approved railway projects worth ₹12,328 crore, and extended the PM SVANidhi scheme till 2030.

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has recently approved four major railway projects. These projects are set to cost ₹12,328 crore and will improve rail connectivity in various regions like Gujarat, Bihar, Assam, and Karnataka-Telangana.

Among the key projects are the rail lines between Deshalpar-Hajipur-Looni and Vayor-Lakhat in Gujarat, costing ₹2,526 crore. Additionally, a new third line will be added for the 53 km stretch from Bhagalpur to Jamalpur in Bihar, costing ₹1,156 crore, and a doubling project in Assam from Furkating to New Tinsukia, which will cost ₹3,634 crore.

This new railway development will benefit over 47 lakh people across 3,108 villages by adding 565 km of railway routes. It is expected to create around 251 lakh days of employment and enhance freight operations by allowing an additional 68 million tonnes of cargo each year.

Furthermore, the Cabinet has extended the PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme until March 31, 2030, with a budget of ₹7,332 crore. This will offer better loan limits and rewards for vendors who make timely payments.

These railway projects aim to improve tourism and transportation by making it easier to reach popular tourist spots. The rail lines in Kutch will be ready in about three years, with a total length of 145 route km and 164 track km, benefiting around 16 lakh people in the area.

Summary:

  • Four railway projects worth ₹12,328 crore approved.

  • New rail lines in Gujarat, Bihar, Assam, and Karnataka-Telangana.

  • Projects to benefit over 47 lakh people and create jobs.

  • PM SVANidhi scheme extended to 2030 with new benefits.
