Western Railway has officially introduced 15 additional suburban services to the Mumbai network starting today, February 19, 2026. This latest update aims to handle the growing passenger rush and includes 12 air-conditioned (AC) trains along with 3 non-AC trains. With these additions, the total number of daily services on the Western line has increased from 1,410 to 1,414.
Which new trains are running from today?
The new schedule includes mostly slow services that will halt at all stations, providing better connectivity for daily office goers. A significant portion of these are AC locals, reflecting the high demand for comfortable travel.
- Borivali to Churchgate (AC): Departs at 05:45, 08:06, and 17:27 hrs
- Goregaon to Churchgate (AC): Departs at 10:11 hrs
- Bhayandar to Andheri (AC): Departs at 20:20 hrs
- Vasai Road to Borivali (AC): Departs at 22:20 hrs
- Bandra to Churchgate (Non-AC): Departs at 14:57 hrs
How will this benefit commuters?
Vineet Abhishek, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Western Railway, stated that these changes are designed to reduce overcrowding on popular routes. The completion of the 6th line between Kandivali and Borivali has created the necessary track capacity to run these extra trains. The total number of AC services has now reached 133, and weekend AC services have also seen a major increase from 77 to 106.
What are the ticket rules and prices?
For passengers looking to switch to AC locals, the minimum fare for a single journey remains ₹35 for up to 10 km. Monthly passes range between ₹570 and ₹2,035 depending on the distance. Existing First-Class season ticket holders also have the option to upgrade to an AC pass by paying the difference for the remaining validity period. Western Railway has also intensified ticket checking to curb ticketless travel.
