North Western Railway adds 135 extra coaches to 49 trains for August 2026 rush
To manage the surge in passenger traffic and combat long waiting lists throughout the month of August, the North Western Railway (NWR) has officially announced the attachment of 135 temporary extra coaches. This significant augmentation will be implemented across 49 pairs of trains starting from August 1, 2026, through August 31, 2026, providing much-needed relief to travellers during the festive season, including Rakshabandhan.

The decision, formally announced on July 27, 2026, is designed to enhance passenger convenience on some of the busiest high-demand corridors. According to Amit Sudarshan, Chief Public Relations Officer for North Western Railway, this initiative is a direct response to the expected travel rush, ensuring that more passengers can secure confirmed berths during the peak holiday period.
The augmentation covers a wide array of popular services, including the Jaipur-Jodhpur, Ajmer-Amritsar, Ajmer-Bandra Terminus, Jaipur-Udaipur City, Jodhpur-Indore, Indore-Bhagat ki Kothi, Jodhpur-Varanasi City, Ajmer-Agra Fort, Jodhpur-Delhi, Udaipur City-Khajuraho, and Hisar-Tirupati routes. Additionally, several trains servicing stations such as Narnaul, Mahendragarh, and Ateli in Haryana will also benefit from the increased capacity.

Railway officials strongly advise all passengers to verify their updated coach structures and train timings via the official IRCTC portal or the NTES app before heading to the station.
