North Western Railway revises schedules and routes for multiple train services

The North Western Railway (NWR) has introduced significant operational adjustments affecting several key train services to improve connectivity and manage ongoing infrastructure works. Announced by Chief Public Relations Officer Amit Sudarshan on August 18, 2026, these updates include route diversions, schedule revisions for six pairs of trains, and partial cancellations due to technical maintenance at the Pune yard. Passengers are advised to check their travel plans as these changes are effective immediately.

  • Extension of Sabarmati BG-Jammu Tawi service up to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.
  • Route diversion for Delhi-Jaisalmer Express (14087) from August 21 to September 24, 2026.
  • Partial cancellation of Jaipur-Pune services between Khadki and Pune stations.

Route Changes and Extensions

In a major boost for pilgrims, the Sabarmati BG-Jammu Tawi rail service has been extended to now operate up to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. Additionally, the Delhi-Jaisalmer service (Train number 14087) will undergo a temporary route diversion from August 21 to September 24, 2026. During this timeframe, the train will operate via the Rewari-Mahendragarh-Loharu-Sikar-Ringas route. This change ensures that passengers can avail of scheduled stops at Mahendragarh, Loharu, Chirawa, Jhunjhunu, Nawalgarh, and Sikar.

Impact on Jaipur-Pune Services

Due to a necessary technical block for ongoing yard remodeling work at Pune, the Jaipur-Pune service will face partial cancellations between Khadki and Pune stations. Specifically, Train number 12940 (Jaipur-Pune), departing on August 22, will now terminate its journey at Khadki instead of proceeding to Pune. Similarly, the return service, Train number 12939 (Pune-Jaipur), scheduled for August 23, will originate from Khadki at 17:35, skipping the departure from Pune station.

Passengers are encouraged to keep a close watch on the official IRCTC website and NWR social media handles for further updates regarding these schedule revisions, as these measures are vital for the long-term safety and efficiency of the railway network.
