Northeast Frontier Railway extends festival special trains till November 30

Indian Railways is making extensive preparations to manage the massive festive rush during the upcoming Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath Puja celebrations. To ensure smooth travel and help passengers secure confirmed berths during the peak holiday season, the Northeast Frontier Railway has announced the extension of several festival special trains originating from or passing through Katihar division. These special services will now continue operations until November 30, providing much-needed relief to daily commuters and long-distance travellers across the region. North East Frontier Railway has extended the operation of three pairs of festival special trains till November 30 to manage the heavy holiday rush. The Katihar Amritsar special train 05736 will operate 12 additional trips from September 9 to November 25. The return service Amritsar Katihar special 05735 will run for 12 trips from September 11 to November 27. The Bhagalpur Katihar daily special 03407 and 03408 will run 94 additional trips extending services till November 30. The Dibrugarh Kolkata festival special 05932 and 05931 will operate 13 additional trips with 22 coaches between September 5 and November 30.

Enhanced Connectivity For Migrant Workers And Daily Commuters

The decision to extend these popular routes comes as a major boon for migrant workers, students and families hailing from the Seemanchal region who reside in Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Travelling home during the festive season often poses a massive challenge due to heavy waitlists on regular mail and express trains. With the continuation of these festival specials, passengers gain direct and hassle-free connectivity to their hometowns. According to Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northeast Frontier Railway, the extension covers vital routes that cater to both long-distance travellers and short-distance daily commuters.

Important Travel Advisory For Passengers

All the extended special trains will operate strictly according to their pre-determined timings, stoppages, and coach compositions. Railway authorities have urged passengers to cross-check train schedules, timings, and availability before planning their journeys. Travellers can easily verify updated timetables by visiting the official IRCTC website or by dialing the Indian Railways helpline number 139 to avoid any last-minute inconvenience at the stations.
