Northeast Frontier Railway extends Santragachi Naharlagun special train services for the festive season

The Northeast Frontier Railway has announced the operation of three additional trips for the Santragachi-Naharlagun Special train to accommodate the surge in passenger demand during the upcoming festive season. This initiative aims to provide enhanced travel options for passengers traveling between West Bengal, northern Assam, and the border regions of Arunachal Pradesh. Passengers looking forward to hassle-free travel during the festive rush can now benefit from these extended services which connect key regions seamlessly. Train number 08047 from Santragachi to Naharlagun is scheduled to depart on September 11, 18, and 25, 2026. The return service, operating as train number 08048 from Naharlagun to Santragachi, will run on September 12, 19, and 26, 2026. The railway administration confirmed that the existing time-table, designated stoppages, and coach composition for these services will remain unchanged. While train number 08048 had been previously canceled on September 4, 2026, due to a land subsidence incident near the New Farakka station, these new festive service extensions are confirmed to proceed as scheduled. Passengers are advised by railway authorities to verify specific journey details and updates via the official IRCTC website or the Northeast Frontier Railway's official social media platforms.
