Northern Railway announces train diversions and short terminations in Lucknow

Railway passengers travelling through Lucknow Charbagh station need to check their train schedules as Northern Railway has announced major operational changes. These adjustments are due to ongoing concourse construction work to upgrade the station to world-class standards. Passengers can expect train service disruptions from September 13 through September 16, 2026, as officials have extended the traffic and Overhead Equipment block on line numbers 4 and 5 until September 15, 2026. Northern Railway has extended the traffic and OHE block until September 15, 2026, and confirmed that service disruptions will affect passengers from September 13 through September 16, 2026.
Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay stated that a mega block is forcing the short-termination and diversion of dozens of major train services. Furthermore, partial six-hour blocks will take place on platforms 2, 3, 6, and 7 on September 14 and 15, 2026. Travellers must stay informed about these changes to avoid any inconvenience at the station.
Short-Terminated and Originating Trains
Several trains will not reach Charbagh station during this block period and will instead start or end their journeys at alternative stations nearby. The Banaras-Lucknow Intercity (15107/15108) will terminate and originate from Utrahtia, while the Veerangana Laxmibai Jhansi-Lucknow (64701/64702) will operate from Kanpur Central. Additionally, the Shahjahanpur-Lucknow (54338/54337) service will operate from Alamnagar. Several Kanpur Central-Lucknow MEMU and passenger trains, including 64212, 64214, 64255, and 64203, will terminate at or depart from Manak Nagar instead of Charbagh station.
Diverted Train Routes
Numerous long-distance and regional trains are being rerouted to bypass the construction zone. Services including the Gorakhpur-Bathinda (12555), Gorakhpur-Sabarmati (19410), Gorakhpur-Bandra Terminus (22922), Gorakhpur-Anand Vihar Terminal (12595), Gorakhpur-Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (12597), and Gorakhpur-Panvel (15065) will be rerouted via the Barabanki-Malhaur-Aishbagh-Manak Nagar line. In addition, the Shaktinagar-Tanakpur (15075) train is subject to route changes. Railway authorities strongly advise all passengers to verify the current operational status, scheduled routes, and stoppages of their specific trains before starting their journey.
