Northern Railway announces train disruptions in Delhi and Haryana through September 13

Railway passengers travelling through Delhi and Haryana need to check their schedules carefully as Northern Railway has announced major temporary modifications affecting around 120 train services from September 11 to September 13, 2026. These widespread changes include train cancellations, diversions, short terminations, short originations, and rescheduling across the Delhi Division. The disruptions are primarily due to heightened security protocols for the BRICS Summit 2026 in New Delhi and essential infrastructure work in the Faridabad section by the Railway Land Development Authority. According to Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, key routes connecting Haryana to Delhi, especially those passing through Bhiwani, Rohtak, and Rewari, are heavily impacted. Commuters are advised to stay updated on these schedule adjustments before heading to the stations.

Key Details of Train Disruptions and Alternative Routes

The operational adjustments have significantly altered daily commuting and long-distance travel. On September 12, multiple EMU services between Ghaziabad, New Delhi, and Delhi Junction were cancelled. Furthermore, at least 13 major trains, including the Gomti Express, Shramjeevi Express, and several Rajdhani services, were diverted via alternate routes such as Delhi Junction, Delhi Shahdara, and Sahibabad. Several premier services have also faced delays and regulation on their routes. Trains such as the Banaras-New Delhi Vande Bharat, Paschim Express, and Punjab Mail are subject to regulation en route. Additionally, eleven premier services, including the Tejas Rajdhani and Lucknow Mail, faced late starts from their originating stations.

Impact on Haryana Commuters and Travel Advice

Passengers traveling specifically on Haryana routes will notice direct changes to their daily journeys. Train No. 14737 and 14738 are experiencing short terminations and originations. Specifically, the 14737 Bhiwani-Tilak Bridge service will operate only up to Shakurbasti on September 12 and 13, with the onward section to Tilak Bridge remaining cancelled. In the return direction, the 14738 Tilak Bridge-Bhiwani service will originate from Shakurbasti instead of Tilak Bridge on those dates. To avoid inconvenience at the station, passengers are strongly urged to verify the live status of their travel via the 139 helpline, the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) app, or official IRCTC portals.
