Northern Railway has announced significant operational disruptions affecting approximately 120 trains within the Delhi Division from September 11 to September 13, 2026 due to the 18th BRICS Summit. Passengers planning to travel through New Delhi during these dates must check their schedules carefully as services face widespread cancellations, diversions, short terminations, and reschedulings. The sweeping changes affect numerous high-profile and premium services connecting the national capital to various parts of the country. Passengers booked on the prestigious Rajdhani Express series connecting New Delhi to Ranchi, Dibrugarh, Sealdah, Howrah, and Bhubaneswar should expect major alterations. Other notable services facing disruptions include the Banaras-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express, the Tejas Rajdhani, the Poorva Express, and the Sampoorna Kranti Express, alongside numerous EMU and MEMU local commuter trains.
Commuters relying on suburban networks will see several specific services completely cancelled, including the 64015 Palwal-Shakurbasti EMU, 64429 and 64433 Ghaziabad-New Delhi EMUs, 64492 New Delhi-Palwal Ladies EMU, and 64491 Delhi Junction-Shamli EMU. Furthermore, many long-distance and local trains will be diverted via alternative routes such as New Delhi-Delhi Junction-Sahibabad. To manage congestion and security around the main hub, certain services will have their origin or termination points shifted to alternative stations like Palwal, Ghaziabad, Shakur Basti, Delhi Shahdara, or Hazrat Nizamuddin. Meanwhile, services like the Banaras-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express may experience regulations and delays ranging from 10 to 40 minutes. Indian Railways strongly advises passengers to verify the current status of their journeys by using the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) website or app, or by dialing the dedicated railway helpline number 139 before heading to the station.
