Northern Railway has announced a major initiative to overhaul the lighting infrastructure across several railway stations in the national capital. This project is designed to significantly enhance visibility and bolster security measures for passengers and railway staff.

A ₹2 Crore Investment in Security

The massive undertaking, estimated to cost approximately two crore rupees, will focus on illuminating station premises, railway yards, entry and exit points, and the surrounding areas. To achieve this, authorities are set to install 36 high-mast lights throughout Delhi.

Each of these high-mast structures will stand 16 meters tall and will be equipped with nine LED floodlights. This deployment will result in a total of 324 LED floodlights being installed to ensure comprehensive coverage of the station areas.

Advanced Lighting and Safety Features

The project is not just about brightness; it incorporates advanced technology to ensure safety and efficiency:

  • Automatic Control: The installation includes 36 automatic light control panels to manage the lighting systems effectively.
  • Aviation Safety: To ensure the high structures do not interfere with flight paths, the systems are designed with LED-based aviation signals.
  • Extensive Infrastructure: The project requires laying approximately 2,800 meters of cable to facilitate a reliable power supply.
  • Roadway Improvements: Beyond the immediate station platforms, the initiative also covers general road lighting in various locations.

Stations Included in the Upgrade

The lighting enhancements will be rolled out at several key locations across the Delhi region, including:

  • Anand Vihar Terminal
  • Patel Nagar
  • Dayabasti
  • Narela
  • Adarsh Nagar
  • Okhla
  • Shivaji Bridge
