To accommodate the massive surge in travelers during the upcoming festive season, Northern Railway has announced several Diwali Chhath Puja special trains. These services are specifically designed to manage the heavy passenger rush expected during the 2026 festivities.

Connecting Delhi-NCR to Key Destinations

The special services will primarily connect the Delhi-NCR region to major hubs across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. This initiative aims to provide smoother travel for passengers heading to destinations such as:

New Unreserved and Vande Bharat Services

The railway administration is introducing three pairs of unreserved festival special trains to cater to the high demand on specific routes, including:

  • Sirhind to Saharsa
  • Srinagar to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra

Furthermore, a premium Vande Bharat service (Train Nos. 02436 and 02435) has been scheduled to run between New Delhi and Patna on November 6 and 7, 2026, offering a faster travel option for commuters.

Safety and Crowd Control Measures

To ensure passenger safety and manage the intense crowding at stations, Northern Railway has implemented strict measures. Specifically, restrictions on the sale of platform tickets have been introduced at various stations within the Delhi-NCR region to prevent overcrowding on platforms during this peak period.

Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northern Railway, has advised all passengers to verify current schedules, seat availability, and operational status before beginning their journey.

How to Book Tickets

Passengers are encouraged to secure their travel by booking through the official IRCTC website or other authorized booking platforms. For real-time assistance and travel updates, the dedicated railway helpline 139 is available for all travelers.
