Northern Railway launches special trains for Dussehra Diwali and Chhath Puja

Northern Railway has announced the launch of numerous festival special trains connecting Delhi to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath Puja festivals. As of September 6, 2026, bookings for these services are open, and passengers are encouraged to secure their reservations promptly based on the advance reservation period. These special trains offer various travel classes, including AC 3-Tier, AC 3-Tier Economy, Sleeper, and General coaches, and railway officials have urged travellers to book early to manage the heavy holiday rush and ensure a seamless travel experience.
Festival Special Train Schedule and Routes
The service schedule includes the New Delhi-Danapur Special Express (04090/04089), operating eight trips between September 4 and September 25, 2026. Train 04090 departs Delhi every Friday at 11:30 PM, arriving in Danapur at 3:00 PM the following day, with stops at Ghaziabad, Tundla, and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction. The return service, 04089, departs Danapur every Saturday at 4:40 PM. Additionally, the Ayodhya Cantt-Anand Vihar Terminal Special Express (04213/04214) will conduct 36 trips between October 1 and November 30, with an additional two trips starting September 3, serving key stations including Lucknow, Bareilly, and Moradabad. Similarly, the Varanasi-Anand Vihar Terminal Special (04217/04218) will run two trips starting September 3, connecting through Raebareli, Bareilly, and Hapur.
