Northern Railway has announced important operational adjustments for several Amritsar-bound trains due to traffic blocks implemented at the Dhundari Kalan yard on the Sanehwal-Ludhiana rail section. • Ongoing regulatory stops are scheduled for September 12 and 13 affecting key routes from Purnia, Jaynagar, and Kolkata.
  • Over 120 trains including Rajdhani and Vande Bharat services are experiencing adjustments due to the Delhi BRICS summit.

Detailed Train Regulation Schedule

According to Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, the traffic blocks are necessary for infrastructure work. On Friday, September 11, 2026, the 14623 Varanasi-Chheharta Express was held for 120 minutes, the 14617 Purnia-Amritsar Express was stopped for 110 minutes, and the 14673 Jaynagar-Amritsar Express was regulated for 100 minutes.

For the remaining duration of the block period, operations remain restricted. On September 12 and September 13, 2026, the 14617 Purnia-Amritsar Express and the 14649 Jaynagar-Amritsar Express will be stopped for 90 minutes each, divided between Moradabad and Ambala Cantt. Additionally, on September 13, the 12317 Kolkata-Amritsar Express will be held for 45 minutes at Moradabad and 45 minutes at Ambala Cantt.

Additional Disruptions Due to BRICS Summit

In addition to the Firozpur Division yard work, the Northern Railway Delhi Division is managing extensive service adjustments affecting over 120 trains, including premier Rajdhani and Vande Bharat services, due to the BRICS summit held in Delhi from September 11 to 13, 2026. Because of these simultaneous operational challenges, passengers are strongly advised to verify their specific train status via the National Train Enquiry System or by contacting the railway helpline at 139 before beginning their travel.
