A terrifying land subsidence incident has struck the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC) tunnel construction site in Sahsola village, Nuh. The incident, which occurred on Saturday morning, has left the local community in a state of panic as large portions of land and structures have collapsed into the tunnel structure.

Devastating Impact in Sahsola Village

The incident was reported around 8:00 AM on October 10, 2026. The collapse was so severe that the shuttering of a house currently under construction fell directly into the tunnel. According to local residents, the sinkhole is massive, spanning an area of approximately 300 meters. Villagers estimate that nearly one acre of land has subsided into the tunnel construction site.

The structural stability of the surrounding area is now under threat. Cracks have already begun to appear in three to four nearby homes, causing widespread fear among the residents regarding the safety of their properties and lives.

History of Negligence and Local Fears

This is not an isolated event at the site. A similar, though smaller, collapse occurred just five days prior, on October 6, 2026, which affected a 20-meter stretch of farmland between Sahsola and Patuka.

Local residents have leveled serious allegations of gross negligence against the construction firm involved in the tunnel works, identified as Drillcon Company. Villagers claim that authorities and the company failed to take necessary precautions following the initial collapse in early October.

Furthermore, concerns have been raised regarding the environmental impact of the project. Villagers allege that the firm is operating Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) plants illegally without the required No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the Haryana State Pollution Control Board. District Councilor Haider Ali has previously filed formal complaints regarding these unauthorized facilities.

Authorities Step In to Manage Crisis

In response to the escalating danger, law enforcement has been deployed to the area. Tawdu Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abhimanyu Lohan confirmed that police forces are on-site to manage the situation and ensure the safety of residents by evacuating them from the immediate danger zone.

The administration has also signaled a crackdown on the construction firm. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Tawdu had previously issued a warning that if the company failed to respond to official summons for a third time, unilateral legal action would be initiated. As of the latest reports, officials from the construction firm have not yet responded to requests for comment.
