NWR Success: Electric Loco Trials on Dausa-Gangapur Route

The North Western Railway (NWR) has successfully concluded electric locomotive trials on the 94-kilometer Dausa-Gangapur City railway line. This technical milestone marks a significant step in the modernization of the regional rail network.
Successful Trial Run and Technical Details
The trial run, which was a crucial phase of the electrification project, took place on April 2, 2026. An electric engine successfully completed the journey between Lalsot and Gangapur City, demonstrating the viability of the newly electrified section.
During the testing process, the locomotive operated at speeds ranging from 65 to 80 kilometers per hour. The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Principal Chief Electrical Engineer Brijmohan Meena to ensure all technical and safety standards were strictly met. The project involved a substantial investment of approximately ₹143 crore.
Electrification Milestones
While the electrification work for this specific route was finalized by August 18, 2026, it is part of a much larger achievement for the zone. The North Western Railway reached a major milestone on April 8, 2026, when it achieved 99% electrification across its entire broad gauge network.
Commuter Delays and Future Service Plans
Despite the successful testing and completed infrastructure, the section is still awaiting the launch of regular passenger and freight services. As of October 2, 2026, local commuters have expressed significant disappointment regarding the delay in starting these essential services.
To address the growing demand, railway authorities are currently in discussions to introduce long-distance train operations. These upcoming services are expected to utilize the infrastructure validated during the recent successful engine testing phases to provide improved connectivity to the region.
