North Western Railway extends two weekly special trains to Rishikesh for festival season
The North Western Railway has officially announced the extension of two popular weekly special train services connecting Rajasthan to Yognagari Rishikesh. Announced on August 31, 2026, this move adds seven new trips to each route to efficiently manage the heavy passenger rush and heightened travel demand anticipated during the upcoming festive season. Passengers planning journeys between Rajasthan and the spiritual hubs via Haridwar and Rishikesh will benefit greatly from this decision, ensuring smoother connectivity during peak celebration months. The North Western Railway has added seven extra trips to each route to accommodate festival rush. Both train services will retain their existing routes, operational timings, and scheduled stoppages without any changes.
The festive season always witnesses a massive surge in passenger traffic across the Indian Railways network. To address this demand, Amit Sudarshan, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, confirmed that these extensions were implemented specifically to facilitate hassle-free travel for pilgrims and holidaymakers.
Udaipur City and Ajmer Special Train Schedules
The Udaipur City-Yognagari Rishikesh-Udaipur City weekly special, operating under Train No. 09609/09610, will run for seven additional trips. For travellers starting from Udaipur City, the services are scheduled to operate from October 14, 2026, through November 24, 2026. On the return leg, services originating from Yognagari Rishikesh will run from October 15, 2026, to November 25, 2026.
Similarly, the Ajmer Junction-Yognagari Rishikesh-Ajmer Junction special, designated as Train No. 09611/09612, has also been extended by seven trips. Departures from Ajmer Junction toward Yog Nagari Rishikesh are scheduled every Wednesday starting from October 14, 2026, until November 25, 2026. For the return journey, trains leaving Yog Nagari Rishikesh for Ajmer Junction will operate every Thursday from October 15, 2026, to November 26, 2026. Railway authorities have assured travellers that all existing stoppages and timings will remain the same, making planning straightforward for passengers.
