NWR Festive Rush: 137 Extra Coaches Added to 47 Train Pairs

To tackle the massive influx of passengers during the upcoming festive season, the North Western Railway (NWR) has announced a major boost in its service capacity. In a move designed to ease the heavy travel load, the railway has deployed 137 additional coaches across 47 pairs of trains, ensuring smoother journeys for commuters throughout the month of November.

Massive Coach Augmentation

As of November 3, 2026, the NWR has introduced these extra coaches across various categories, including AC, Sleeper, and General. This strategic augmentation aims to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic across Rajasthan and neighboring Haryana during the peak festive period.

Specific modifications have been made to key routes to provide immediate relief to travelers:

  • Lalgarh–Delhi Sarai–Lalgarh Express (Train No. 22471/22472): An additional General class coach will be attached to this service. The extra coach will depart from Lalgarh between November 10 and November 30, with a corresponding schedule for the return journey from Delhi Sarai.
  • Delhi Sarai–Udaipur City–Delhi Sarai Express (Train No. 20473/20474): This service will also see the addition of a General coach. The extra coach will depart from Delhi Sarai from November 10 to November 30, while the departure from Udaipur City will be effective from November 11 to December 1.

Festival Special Trains and Extended Connectivity

Beyond the capacity increase in existing trains, the North Western Railway is running 13 pairs of festival special trains. These special services will complete a total of 264 individual trips, providing vital connectivity between Rajasthan and several major national destinations, including:

  • Prayagraj
  • Patna
  • Gorakhpur
  • Haridwar and Rishikesh
  • Mumbai
  • Chennai

Furthermore, to ensure that travelers have continuous access to transport, the operational duration of several existing special trains has been officially extended through the end of November 2026.

"These capacity adjustments are designed to manage the heavy festive load, ensuring smoother transit for passengers across Rajasthan and the neighboring districts of Haryana," stated Amit Sudarshan, Chief Public Relations Officer of the North Western Railway.

These enhanced services and special trains are scheduled to remain effective for a fixed period during the months of November and December to meet the seasonal demand.
