Panipat Railway Underpass Project Finally Gets Green Light!
After three long years of waiting, the Panipat Railway Underpass Project is finally moving forward. The Northern Railway Headquarters has officially granted approval for the construction of a Railway Under Bridge (RUB) and a Limited Height Subway (LHS) on Gohana Road, ending a period of significant stagnation for this vital infrastructure.
End of a Three-Year Delay
The Panipat Railway Office confirmed the breakthrough on September 24, 2026. This essential permission allows for the installation of a reinforced cement concrete (RCC) box beneath the railway tracks at the DUK section, specifically between kilometer 86/27 and 87/1. This development marks a major milestone for local connectivity.
Construction Timeline and Features
Work is expected to proceed in phases to ensure the project is completed efficiently. The anticipated schedule includes:
- RCC Box Installation: Officials expect the installation of the concrete box to be completed within the next three months.
- Roadwork and Infrastructure: Following the box installation, construction will shift to building approach roads.
- Additional Amenities: The project will also include the implementation of rainwater harvesting systems and the construction of covered sheds.
A Victory for Public Advocacy
The revival of this stalled project is largely attributed to the persistent efforts of CA Jagdish Dhamija. As a former chairman of the Panipat CA Branch and an active member of the Akhil Bhartiya Grahak Panchayat, Dhamija played a crucial role in pushing for progress. He reportedly filed over 700 complaints across various public interest portals to ensure the project received the necessary attention from authorities.
