Panki Dham Railway Station: Modern facilities to be added under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
The Panki Dham railway station in Kanpur is getting a complete makeover. This project is part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, for which Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone in August 2023. The redevelopment work, costing 23 crore rupees, is almost finished and the station will soon be open for passengers.

What new facilities will passengers get at Panki Dham station?
The station is being designed with a traditional Indian temple style. Passengers will get a new station building, more ticket counters, and a parcel booking office. For the convenience of specially-abled passengers, ramps have been built. A new and wider foot-over bridge is also ready to handle the crowd.
How will this project reduce crowd at Kanpur Central?
To lower the pressure on Kanpur Central, the railway plans to stop around 30 additional trains at Panki Dham. Along with Panki Dham, Govindpuri station is also being developed as a satellite terminal. This means local passengers will not have to travel to the main central station to catch their trains.
