Rail operations in Uttar Pradesh faced an unexpected halt on Saturday morning when a large tree blocked the tracks in Bahraich. Passengers traveling on regional routes experienced noticeable delays as railway teams rushed to clear the obstruction and restore normalcy along the affected section.
On Saturday morning, August 29, 2026, a large tree fell across the railway tracks between the outer and home signals of the Nishangada railway station on the Up line. This sudden obstruction halted the progress of passenger train number 52261, which was running from Nanpara to Mailani, causing a delay of approximately one hour and fifteen minutes for the service.
Impact on Commuters and Stations
The disruption inconvenienced numerous commuters waiting at multiple stations along the route, including Nishangada, Bichhia, Manjhara Purab, Belraiyan, Tikuniya, and Palia. The timetable was significantly thrown off gear as the train, which was originally scheduled to arrive at Bichhia station at 9:25 AM and depart by 9:27 AM, did not actually arrive until approximately 10:40 AM.

As soon as authorities were notified of the blockage, the railway engineering department team was immediately dispatched to the incident site. The crew worked efficiently to clear the tracks by cutting and removing the fallen tree. Following the completion of necessary line safety checks and repairs, rail traffic was successfully restored, allowing the stranded train to safely resume its journey. Sudhanshu Giri, the Station Superintendent at Bichhia, confirmed that the fallen tree was the direct cause of the operational delay.
