Patna-Jaynagar Namo Bharat Replaced by MEMU Train

Commuters traveling on the Patna to Jaynagar route will notice a significant change in their upcoming journeys. The premium Namo Bharat Rapid Rail service has been temporarily withdrawn and replaced by a MEMU train service.
Why the Namo Bharat Service is Suspended
According to officials from the East Central Railway, this temporary change has been implemented to facilitate mandatory maintenance for the Namo Bharat rakes. Due to the limited availability of these specific rakes, the railway authorities have decided to deploy a MEMU train to ensure that passenger connectivity on this route is not completely disrupted during the maintenance period.
What Passengers Should Expect
While the replacement service aims to maintain the connectivity of the route, passengers should be aware of several key differences between the Rapid Rail and the incoming MEMU service:
- Timetable: The MEMU train will follow the same schedule as the original Namo Bharat service, so timing remains consistent.
- Travel Speed: Passengers should expect a reduction in operational speed, as the MEMU train does not match the rapid transit capabilities of the Namo Bharat.
- Comfort and Amenities: Unlike the fully air-conditioned Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, the replacement MEMU train is a non-AC service.
- Ticket Pricing: Because the MEMU is a non-AC service, passengers will experience a reduction in fare compared to what they previously paid for the Rapid Rail.
This temporary arrangement is expected to remain in place for approximately one month while the maintenance work is completed.
