Patna Metro Update: Malahi Pakdi station work complete, operations expected to start by March 2026

The Patna Metro project has reached a new milestone with the completion of major infrastructure work at the Malahi Pakdi station. The installation of lifts and escalators is now finished, and the station is preparing for its final inspections. Officials have indicated that public operations on this stretch are expected to begin by the end of March 2026 or early April 2026.

What is the current operational status of the station?

All civil and electrical works at Malahi Pakdi station are complete, including the critical installation of passenger lifts and escalators. Fire safety and electrical checks were successfully performed in February 2026 to ensure the station is ready for use. Trial runs on the 2.9 kilometre stretch between Khemnichak and Malahi Pakdi have also been concluded by the Patna Metro Rail Corporation. These trials were essential to check the signalling and train performance before the final safety clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety which is expected after the Holi break.

How will the new metro stretch help local passengers?

The commencement of services from Malahi Pakdi will extend the current running line from the New ISBT station. This will create a 6.1 kilometre operational corridor serving five key stations across the city. The expansion is expected to reduce road traffic and provide a faster travel option for those commuting in southern and eastern Patna. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha recently reviewed the progress and confirmed that the target is to open the line for the public before the upcoming festival dates.
