* The full operationalization of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor will be marked by opening 326 route kilometers across three critical sections built at a cost exceeding ₹20,700 crore.

* Four new freight trains will be flagged off from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umbergaon, and New JNPT.

Full Operationalization of Western Dedicated Freight Corridor

A major highlight of the upcoming event is the full operationalization of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC). Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed the official dedication of three critical sections namely Sanand (North)-Makarpura, New Umargam-New Saphale, and New Saphale-New JNPT. These sections span 326 route kilometers and have been built at a cost exceeding ₹20,700 crore. This crucial completion is expected to rapidly expedite export-import cargo movement directly to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority while effectively decongesting the heavily burdened Mumbai rail network. To mark this milestone, four freight trains will be flagged off simultaneously from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umbergaon, and New JNPT.

New Passenger Trains and Tribal Integration

In addition to boosting freight infrastructure, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a brand new passenger train service running between Vadodara and Tanda Road (Pratapnagar). This passenger service will help integrate remote tribal areas located in the Alirajpur, Chhota Udepur, and Vadodara districts directly into the national railway network. Alongside this, the newly constructed Jobat-Tanda Road rail line, which forms an essential part of the broader Chhota Udepur-Dhar project, will also be officially dedicated to the nation.

Future Railway Expansion and Foundation Stones

Looking ahead at future infrastructure growth, foundation stones will be laid for three new railway developments covering a total of 329 kilometers with a financial outlay exceeding ₹9,700 crore. These upcoming projects include the 259 km third and fourth railway lines between Vadodara and Ratlam costing ₹8,885 crore, the gauge conversion of the Miyagam Karjan-Choranda-Malsar section valued at ₹450 crore, and the doubling of the Vishwamitri-Dabhoi section worth ₹394 crore. Members of the general public can view the live proceedings starting at 12:00 PM IST through the official government webcast portal.
