PM Modi Unveils 5 Amrit Bharat Stations & Rail Projects in TN

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has handed over a major boost to the railway infrastructure of Tamil Nadu. By inaugurating several key projects, the Prime Minister has aimed to strengthen regional connectivity and modernize the travel experience for millions of commuters across the state.
Amrit Bharat Station Upgrades
As part of the ongoing Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, five railway stations have undergone a complete transformation. The redeveloped stations include Ambasamudram, Palani, Namakkal, Paramakkudi, and Vellore Cantonment.
Modern Amenities for Passengers
With an investment exceeding ₹70 crore, these stations have been upgraded to provide a world-class experience. The improvements include:
- Renovated facades for a modern aesthetic
- New entrance porches for better passenger flow
- Dedicated covered parking facilities
- Enhanced accessibility features for persons with disabilities
New Rail Lines and Capacity Boosters
The infrastructure expansion extends far beyond station beautification. The Prime Minister dedicated the newly constructed 23-km Karaikal-Peralam railway line, a project developed at a cost of more than ₹550 crore.
To tackle the growing issue of congestion and increase line capacity in the Coimbatore region, three new rail flyovers have been inaugurated. These flyovers, built at a cost of more than ₹120 crore, are expected to significantly smooth out rail traffic and improve efficiency.
