Poorva Express to Extend Operations to Shakurbasti Station

Northern Railway has announced a major operational shift for the Poorva Express, extending its route beyond the New Delhi Railway Station to Shakurbasti Station. This move is part of a massive rescheduling plan involving 45 trains aimed at managing heavy traffic and the ongoing redevelopment at the New Delhi terminal.

Passengers traveling on the Poorva Express (12381) will see changes to their arrival and departure times starting from October 28, 2026. Under the new schedule, the train will arrive at New Delhi at 6:20 AM and depart at 6:45 AM, eventually reaching Shakurbasti at 7:20 AM.

For the return journey, train number 12382 will depart from Shakurbasti at 4:35 PM and is scheduled to leave New Delhi at 5:15 PM, effective from October 30, 2026. Additionally, train numbers 12303 and 12304 will also begin operating from Shakurbasti starting October 29 and 30, respectively.

Why the Route is Changing

The decision to extend the route to Shakurbasti is primarily driven by the extensive redevelopment projects currently underway at the New Delhi Railway Station. By shifting the terminus, the railway administration aims to mitigate congestion and streamline operations within the busy capital network.

Other Trains Impacted by Rescheduling

The rescheduling plan is quite extensive, impacting several prestigious services across the network. Among the trains undergoing timing or route adjustments are:

  • Prayagraj Express
  • Humsafar Express
  • Rajdhani Express
  • Tejas Rajdhani
  • Sampoorna Kranti Express
  • Vikramshila Express
  • Magadh Express

Furthermore, the Humsafar Express (12275) is set for a significant terminal change. Starting January 1, 2027, it will shift its operations from New Delhi to the Anand Vihar Terminal.
