Prayagraj Special Trains: 50 New Services for Diwali & Chhath Puja
NCR announces 50 special trains from Prayagraj for Diwali and Chhath Puja. Includes routes to Delhi and Udhna, plus new crowd management rules.

To manage the massive influx of passengers during the upcoming festive season, the North Central Railway (NCR) has announced the operation of approximately 50 special trains originating from Prayagraj. These Prayagraj special trains for Diwali and Chhath Puja are designed to provide essential connectivity for travelers heading to their home destinations during the peak holiday period.
Key Destinations and Nationwide Connectivity
The special services will cater to several major routes to help ease the festive rush. Passengers can utilize these services to reach various destinations, including:
- Udhna
- Delhi
- Udhampur
- Yesvantpur
This initiative is part of a much larger coordinated effort across the country. The North Central Railway and Northern Railway have collectively planned over 6,200 special train trips nationwide. As part of this strategy, NCR is specifically introducing more than 1,000 "Trains on Demand" (TOD) to assist passengers by clearing long waitlists. Operations at critical nodes like Prayagraj Junction and Subedarganj station will remain extensive through November 30, 2026.
Strict Crowd Management and Platform Ticket Rules
In addition to increasing train frequency, railway authorities have implemented strict protocols to manage the expected crowds. To prevent overcrowding at major stations in the Delhi region, authorities have announced a suspension of platform ticket sales.
Platform ticket sales will be suspended from November 3 through November 14, 2026, at the following stations:
- New Delhi
- Old Delhi
- Hazrat Nizamuddin
- Ghaziabad
- Anand Vihar Terminal
