Prime Minister Modi Inaugurates Redeveloped Khairthal Railway Station under Amrit Bharat Scheme
On July 17, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the transformed Khairthal Railway Station as part of the ambitious nationwide Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. This major infrastructure upgrade, completed at a cost of 13 crore rupees, was unveiled alongside 75 other redeveloped stations across India. The project aims to provide a world-class travel experience for passengers by blending modern architecture with local cultural aesthetics.

According to Amit Sudarshan, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, the station now features separate entry and exit gates and dedicated parking zones for all vehicles. Critical upgrades include 4,197 square meters of renovated platform surface and extended platform shelters to protect commuters from the elements.
To ensure inclusivity, the station has been equipped with ramps, accessible toilets, and dedicated help booths for disabled passengers. The interior has received a significant facelift with new waiting rooms, modern toilet blocks, and an aesthetic porch that reflects the local heritage of the region.
Connectivity and Train Services
Khairthal remains a vital transit point, connecting passengers to major hubs like Delhi, Jaipur, and Katra. Travelers can take advantage of the GALTADHAM POOJA for Delhi, which reaches the capital in approximately 3 hours, or opt for the ASHRAM EXPRESS and YOGA EXPRESS for quick access to Jaipur, with travel times as short as 2 hours and 25 minutes. For those heading north, the SHALIMAR MALANI and GALTADHAM POOJA provide efficient connectivity to Katra (Jammu Tawi).
In addition to these physical upgrades, the railway network has embraced digitalization. As of July 15, 2026, all railway duty check passes have transitioned to a fully digital format, further streamlining station operations.
