Pune Railway Division Announces 15-Day Mega Block Disrupting 67 Train Services
Commuters travelling through Maharashtra need to plan their journeys carefully as the Central Railway Pune Division has scheduled a major 15-day mega block from September 19 to October 4, 2026. This extensive infrastructure upgrade between Hadapsar and Ghorpadi aims to commission a vital third railway line and remodel the station yards to boost long-term operational efficiency. Travellers should note that 42 mail, express, and passenger trains are totally cancelled, affecting 98 individual trips, while 25 trains are diverted and many others face short-terminations or rescheduling. Key Details of the Pune Division Mega Block
The infrastructure project involves critical pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking activities at the Pune and Hadapsar yards. The block schedule starts with daily interruptions from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. between September 19 and 23 on the Up and Down lines between Pune and Hadapsar. The intensity of the work will vary over the fortnight, culminating on October 4 with major traffic blocks between Hadapsar and the Ghorpadi Coach Maintenance Complex (GCMC) for finalizing signaling and telecommunications systems.
Cancellations and Diversions Impacting Passengers
The massive disruptions affect several popular daily and long-distance services. Specific trains facing total cancellation include the Siddheshwar Express, Indrayani Express, Deccan Express, and the Pune-Solapur Intercity Superfast Express. Meanwhile, diverted services will be rerouted through key corridors such as Lonavala–Karjat–Panvel–Kalyan and Pune–Satara–Miraj. Affected diverted trains include the Pune–Howrah Express, Pune–Jammu Tawi Express, CSMT–Chennai Express, and LTT–Coimbatore Express.
Additionally, the block impacts 35 trains through short-termination or short-origination, 22 trains through regulation, and 14 trains facing rescheduled departure times. Because these dates coincide with the busy Ganeshotsav festive season, Central Railway has thoughtfully introduced 34 additional Ganapati Special trains for the Konkan region to assist stranded commuters. All affected passengers must verify the latest status and revised timings of their specific trains via official Indian Railways enquiry channels before travel.
