A major push for Purnia railway development is underway as a high-level railway inspection team recently completed a strategic visit to the region's stations. Accompanied by the Chief Engineer from the Hajipur zone of the East Central Railway, the delegation focused on assessing the massive potential for infrastructure upgrades and long-term growth.
The inspection, which included the participation of MP Rajesh Ranjan, aims to map out the future of the rail network in the area. By evaluating current facilities, the team is working to identify key locations for modernization to better serve the growing needs of the local population.
Purnia Court Station: A Rs 6.22 Crore Makeover
One of the most critical components of the regional transformation plan is the massive upgrade of the Purnia Court railway station. This project is specifically designed to enhance the safety and convenience of the thousands of commuters who pass through the station every day.
- Platform Upgrades: All three platforms at the station are set to be upgraded to high-level standards.
- Passenger Safety: The modernization focuses on providing a safer and more accessible environment for travelers.
- Daily Footfall: The improvements will benefit approximately 15,000 passengers who use the station on a daily basis.
- Project Investment: The estimated cost for this station transformation is Rs 6.22 crore.
Massive Rail Expansion Across North Bihar
The inspection in Purnia is part of a much larger movement to bolster the rail network throughout North Bihar. Several mega-projects are currently being prioritized to improve regional connectivity and economic growth:
- Araria to Galgalia Line: A significant new rail line project with an estimated investment of Rs 4,410 crore.
- Bikramshila to Katareah Line: A proposed rail connectivity project valued at over Rs 2,170 crore.
