The Ministry of Railways has announced the operation of two Mahakumbh special trains to facilitate railway passengers in Naugachia, Bihar. These trains will run from Guwahati to Tundla via Katihar, significantly easing the journey for devotees traveling from various parts of Bihar, including Navagachiya and Bhagalpur. The Mahakumbh special trains include Train No. 05614, which departs from Tundla to Katihar on February 5, and Train No. 05715, which runs from Katihar to Tundla on February 6. Following this, Train No. 05716 will operate from Katihar to Tundla on February 8, and Train No. 05613 will run from Tundla to Guwahati on February 9. Additionally, the special train from Navagachia towards Prayagraj is scheduled to arrive at 10:50 PM on both February 5 and February 8. The trains are equipped with 17 sleeper coaches, 2 third air-conditioned coaches, and 1 second air-conditioned coach to accommodate the needs of the devotees.

Significance of the Service

The introduction of the Kumbh special trains comes in response to the demands of the devotees, as highlighted by former Deputy Chief Minister Tarakishore Prasad. He noted that Katihar Junction is a critical station in the region, and the lack of direct trains to Prayagraj had caused significant inconvenience for travelers. The special trains will also stop at key stations, including Prayagraj, enhancing connectivity for those attending the Mahakumbh. With the first royal bath occurring on February 12 during Magh Purnima and the last on February 26 for Mahashivaratri, there is an expected surge in passenger traffic at the stations.
