78 Days Bonus: Huge Festive Gift for Railway Employees!
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has announced a massive railway employees bonus equivalent to 78 days' wages. This decision brings a wave of festive joy to the workforce, with a total outlay of Rs 2,009.61 crore allocated for the purpose.
The bonus is set to be paid to 11,40,770 eligible non-gazetted railway employees ahead of the Durga Puja and Dussehra holidays. This move is intended to recognize their hard work and motivate them to further improve railway operations.
Who is Eligible for the Bonus?
The Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) will cover a wide range of essential staff categories. The maximum bonus amount payable to each eligible employee will be Rs 17,951. The beneficiaries include:
- Loco pilots and train managers (guards)
- Track maintainers and pointsmen
- Station masters and supervisors
- Technicians and technician helpers
- Ministerial staff and other Group C employees
Rewarding Record-Breaking Performance
This incentive follows a period of exceptional performance by the Indian Railways. During the 2025-26 period, the organization achieved significant milestones, including:
- Record Cargo Loading: A massive 1,670 million tonnes of cargo were loaded.
- High Passenger Volume: Nearly 7.41 billion passengers were carried.
The annual payment of the Productivity Linked Bonus is intended to incentivize railway employees for their vital contribution to the organization's operational performance.
