Indian Railways restores track integrity on Manikpur Satna section after heavy rains
Railway authorities have successfully completed urgent repair work on the Manikpur-Satna section of the busy Mumbai-Howrah rail line following severe waterlogging caused by recent torrential rainfall. The weather-related disruption impacted train operations for approximately four hours between Markundi and Khutwa stations, prompting immediate intervention from engineering teams to ensure absolute safety for passengers and freight movement.
The disruption affected the transit of 20 freight trains and 40 passenger trains, causing significant operational delays across the network.
Swift Restoration Work by Railway Teams
According to PWI Varun Kumar, the rapid restoration process involved significantly strengthening the vulnerable track infrastructure by laying fresh ballast along the affected areas. A dedicated freight train was deployed to transport and distribute ballast from Majhgawan to Markundi to stabilize the compromised rail bed. Additionally, frontline railway teams utilized sandbags to effectively reinforce track edges in areas where soil erosion had threatened the structural integrity of the line.
Continuous Monsoon Monitoring
Following the swift completion of the repair work, normal train operations have safely resumed on the route. Railway officials have confirmed that they are maintaining continuous, round-the-clock monitoring of vulnerable tracks throughout the ongoing monsoon season. This proactive surveillance aims to mitigate the risk of further weather-related disruptions and guarantee uncompromised passenger safety across the network.
