Rs 76.41 Cr Approved for Sudhiyani Overbridge in Kushinagar

Commuters and residents in the Kushinagar region are set to receive major relief as the Union Ministry of Railways has officially sanctioned Rs 76.41 crore for the construction of a new overbridge at the Sudhiyani railway crossing.

The decision, confirmed by local Member of Parliament Vijay Kumar Dubey, aims to tackle the chronic traffic congestion that has plagued the Captainganj area for years.

Ending the Traffic Nightmare

The Sudhiyani crossing, located on the Captainganj-Bodwar road, serves as a critical junction on the Paniyhawa-Gorakhpur route. Because it connects to the Captainganj-Gorakhpur road, it is a vital artery for local movement.

However, the frequent movement of trains from lines including Thawe and Narkatiaganj has historically caused significant disruption. The railway gate must be closed multiple times throughout the day to allow train passage, leading to massive traffic delays and significant inconvenience for travelers moving between Kushinagar and Bihar.

Project Timeline and Next Steps

While the financial sanction is a massive step forward, the project is currently moving through the final stages of preparation. Officials have noted that the project remains subject to several procedural requirements.

Construction activities are expected to commence only after the following milestones are achieved:

  • Obtaining all necessary site clearances.
  • Securing final technical approvals.
  • Completion of all formal administrative processes.

Once these hurdles are cleared, the overbridge is expected to provide a seamless transit route, effectively separating road traffic from the busy railway lines.
