North Western Railway and East Coast Railway are temporarily attaching extra coaches to several train services to manage the heavy rush of passenger traffic expected during the upcoming monsoon and festive periods. Railway authorities have implemented these changes to improve seat availability and ensure a more comfortable journey for travellers. Here are the key details of the temporary coach additions you need to know for your upcoming trips.

North Western Railway Enhancements

Amit Sudarshan, Chief Public Relations Officer of NWR, confirmed that the Jodhpur-Delhi-Jodhpur service will receive one additional Third AC coach and one additional AC Chair Car coach. This enhancement is effective from September 9 to September 15, 2026, for trains departing from Jodhpur, and from September 10 to September 16, 2026, for departures from Delhi. This comes in addition to a broader NWR announcement covering 132 extra coaches across 47 pairs of trains for September 2026. Notable inclusions are five Second General Class coaches on Rewari-Phulera-Rewari (19620/19619 and 19622/19621), Rewari-Hisar-Rewari (59632/59631), Rewari-Ringas-Rewari (59633/59634), and Madar-Rewari-Madar (19617/19618) services from September 1 through September 30, 2026. Furthermore, the Delhi Sarai–Jodhpur–Delhi Sarai service (12463/12464) will feature one 3AC, one Second Sleeper, and one General Class coach from Delhi Sarai between September 2 and September 30, and from Jodhpur between September 3 and October 1, 2026.

East Coast Railway Route Additions

East Coast Railway has also ramped up capacity by adding coaches to several major long-distance and regional routes. Passengers travelling on the Bhubaneswar–KSR Bengaluru Prasanthi Express (18463/18464) will benefit from one additional Third AC coach throughout September. Similar augmentations apply to the Bhubaneswar–Anand Vihar Terminal Odisha Sampark Kranti Express (12819/12820) on nominated days, the Bhubaneswar–Tirupati Express (22879/22880) from September 5 to September 26 and September 6 to September 27, and the Bhubaneswar–Jagdalpur Hirakhand Express (18447/18448) from September 1 to September 30 and September 2 to October 1, 2026. Additional updates include the Shri Ganganagar–Puri Express (20471/20472) on specified trips between September 6 and September 30, and one AC Chair Car added to the Sambalpur-Rayagada (18301/18302) and Puri-Gunupur (18417/18418) lines throughout September. Finally, various Sleeper and General class additions have been made to the Sambalpur–Shalimar Mahima Gossain (20832/20831), Howrah-Puri (12837), Shalimar-Puri (18039), Santragachi-Yelahanka (18063), and Rourkela-Jagdalpur (18107) trains. Passengers are strongly advised to verify their final train composition via the NTES app, IRCTC portal, or station enquiry counters before embarking on their journey.
