A major disruption occurred on the tracks near Pratapgarh on Monday night, causing significant delays for the New Delhi to Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express. The chaos was triggered when a truck became stuck on a railway level crossing, preventing the safe passage of trains in the area.
The Midnight Breakdown
The incident took place around 10:00 PM on the night of Monday, September 21, 2026. A truck was traversing the level crossing on the Patti-Raniganj road, near the Maa Barahi Devi Dham railway station, when its axle suddenly snapped. This mechanical failure left the vehicle immobilized directly on the tracks.
Because the truck was stuck on the crossing, railway authorities were unable to close the gate, creating a dangerous situation and blocking the path for oncoming rail traffic.
Impact on Rajdhani Express and Other Services
The most notable victim of this blockage was the New Delhi to Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express. The train arrived at the Maa Barahi Dham station at 10:17 PM but was forced to wait due to the obstruction. It remained stationary for nearly 40 minutes, finally departing at 10:58 PM once the tracks were cleared.
The disruption was not limited to a single service. Several other trains in the vicinity were also impacted, being held at various stations as the blockage persisted.
Emergency Response and Track Clearance
Station Master Sanjay Singh, working alongside railway staff, spearheaded the emergency response to resolve the crisis. The team worked to secure the track area and manage the situation at the level crossing.
Once the scene was deemed safe and the obstruction was addressed, the Rajdhani Express was permitted to continue its journey, and normal operations were gradually restored.
