Rani Kamalapati-Agartala Express Regularized; New MEMU Service

The Ministry of Railways has announced a major boost to connectivity, regularizing the Rani Kamalapati Agartala Express and introducing a new MEMU service in Madhya Pradesh. These updates aim to provide more reliable transport options and cost-effective travel for both long-distance and regional commuters.

Fare Relief: Agartala-Rani Kamalapati Express Becomes Regular

In a significant move to benefit passengers, the weekly special train connecting Rani Kamalapati in Madhya Pradesh to Agartala in Tripura has been regularized. Previously, the service operated as a special train under the numbers 01665/01666. It will now function as the regular 11665/11666 Rani Kamalapati-Agartala Weekly Express.

The regularized service is scheduled to commence from Rani Kamalapati station every Thursday, starting from October 22, 2026. By transitioning from a "special" service to a regular express, the railway is expected to eliminate the higher fares typically associated with special train operations, offering much-needed relief to budget-conscious travelers.

Route and Connectivity Details

The Rani Kamalapati-Agartala Weekly Express will cover a massive distance of approximately 2,481 kilometers, providing a vital link between the central part of India and the Northeast. The train will serve several key stations along its route, including:

  • Itarsi
  • Jabalpur
  • Satna
  • Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction
  • Ara
  • Patliputra
  • Guwahati

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed this decision following discussions with Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb, ensuring the route's permanence for the benefit of the public.

New MEMU Service in Madhya Pradesh

Beyond long-distance connectivity, the railway network in Madhya Pradesh is also seeing regional expansion. A new Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) service is set to be introduced to improve local travel within the state.

This new service will operate between Devendra Nagar and Churhat, located in the Vindhya region of Madhya Pradesh. Operations for this MEMU service are officially scheduled to begin on October 24, 2026, offering enhanced mobility for residents in the area.
