Rewa-Churhat MEMU Trial Success: New Rail Link Progress

The Rewa-Churhat railway section has achieved a massive milestone in its journey toward full operational status. On the morning of Saturday, October 17, 2026, a successful MEMU trial run was conducted, marking a significant step forward for the Rewa-Sidhi-Singrauli rail line.

Technical Testing on the 52-Kilometer Stretch

The trial run, which commenced at approximately 8:00 AM, was designed to assess speed and operational technicalities across the 52-kilometer stretch. This testing is a critical phase as officials prepare for the upcoming Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) inspection.

Key progress reported on the segment includes:

  • Track Completion: The 23-kilometer track between Rampur Naikin and Churhat is now fully complete.
  • Electrification: Work on electrification is progressing rapidly across the section.
  • Technical Oversight: Engineer Shri Indrajeet Verma has conducted on-site inspections to ensure compliance, while officials from Jabalpur Railway continue daily monitoring.

Expansion Toward Sidhi and Commercial Launch

The momentum is building for even greater connectivity in the region. Plans are already in motion for a trial run on the 22-kilometer section connecting Churhat to Sidhi (Madhuri station), which is expected to take place between October and November 2026.

With track-laying, ballasting, and sleeper installation moving at a high pace between Sidhi and Churhat, authorities are optimistic about the timeline. Officials anticipate the launch of commercial and passenger services to Churhat by December 2026, with a high likelihood of trains reaching Sidhi within the same month.

Proposed Satna-Rewa MEMU Services

To further enhance regional travel, West Central Railway has submitted a proposal to the Railway Board to operate MEMU services from Satna to Rewa via Rampur Naikin. This proposed service aims to provide a vital link for commuters moving through the region.

This milestone follows the successful arrival of the first freight train in Churhat on March 31, 2026, as infrastructure development continues to transform the local rail network.
