Route Alert: 4 Major Trains Diverted via Merta & Degana!
Passengers traveling through the Merta Road and Degana railway regions should prepare for schedule changes. The North Western Railway has announced significant route modifications for four long-distance trains, effective from September 25 to October 3, 2026.
Why are these diversions happening?
The adjustments are necessary to facilitate essential technical operations within the East Central Railway's Danapur and Sonepur divisions. These works include critical pre-interlocking and non-interlocking activities at several key locations, including:
- Rajendrapul
- Hathidah Upper Toll Junction
- Rampur Dumra
- Dinkar Gram Simariya
According to Mr. Amit Sudarshan, Chief Public Relations Officer for the North Western Railway, these infrastructure upgrades are designed to improve main line connectivity and integrate new rail bridges into the network.
Affected Trains and New Routes
The following services will see changes to their usual paths:
- 15623 Bhagat Ki Kothi-Kamakhya Express (and its return journey, the Kamakhya-Bhagat Ki Kothi Express): These trains will be diverted via the Danapur-Patliputra-Shahpur route.
- 15632 Guwahati-Barmer Express: This service is also impacted by the ongoing technical works.
- 15634 Guwahati-Bikaner Express: Departing Guwahati on October 3, 2026, this train will follow an alternate route via Barauni-Shahpur Patori-Chhapra-Varanasi-Gyanpur Road-Prayagraj.
Important: Skipped Stoppages for Guwahati-Bikaner Express
If you are traveling on the 15634 Guwahati-Bikaner Express during this period, please note that the train will not stop at the following stations:
- New Barauni
- Mokama
- Bakhtiyarpur
- Patna
- East Outer Cabin
- Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay
