RRB has announced 1,265 Station Master vacancies for 2026. Check eligibility, exam pattern, salary, and application dates for CEN 08/2026.

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has officially opened the application process for 1,265 Station Master vacancies under the Centralized Employment Notification (CEN) 08/2026. This recruitment marks a significant change, as Station Master positions now feature a dedicated recruitment cycle, separate from the general Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) process.
Application Schedule and Important Dates
Interested candidates can apply online through the official portal at rrbapply.gov.in. The application window opened on October 27, 2026, and will remain active until November 25, 2026, at 11:59 PM. Following the application deadline, the final date for fee payment is set for November 27, 2026.
For those who need to make changes to their submitted details, a correction window will be available from November 28 to December 7, 2026. Please note that a fee of ₹250 per request will be charged for modifications during this period.
Eligibility Criteria and Medical Requirements
To be eligible for these vacancies, candidates must meet specific educational and age requirements:
- Educational Qualification: Applicants must hold a graduate degree from a recognized university, and this degree must be completed by the November 25 deadline.
- Age Limit: The age bracket is set between 20 and 33 years as of January 1, 2027. Standard age relaxations are applicable, providing an additional three years for OBC-NCL and five years for SC/ST categories.
- Medical Standards: Candidates are required to meet the A-2 medical standard. Crucially, anyone who has undergone LASIK or any other corrective eye surgery is considered ineligible for this role.
New Examination Pattern and Selection Process
The recruitment process has undergone a major structural overhaul. Instead of the previous two-stage computer-based test, the RRB has moved to a single-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT). The full selection sequence will include:
- Computer-Based Test (CBT)
- Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Document Verification
- Medical Examination
The 100-mark CBT will consist of 100 objective-type questions, and candidates will have 120 minutes to complete the exam. It is important to note that there is a negative marking of 1/3rd for every incorrect answer. The syllabus for the test covers English Comprehension, Basic Science, Mathematical and Analytical Capability, Logical Capability, and Mental Reasoning.
The final merit list will be determined using a combined weightage: 70% from the CBT score and 30% from the CBAT score.
Salary and Application Guidelines
The Station Master position is classified under Pay Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, which offers an initial basic salary of ₹35,400 per month.
Applicants are strictly restricted to applying for only one RRB region. When applying, ensure you provide a live-captured photograph with a plain white background and a signature written in black ink.
