RRB Station Master Recruitment 2026: New Pattern & Syllabus

The wait is over for railway aspirants! The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) have officially announced the RRB Station Master Recruitment 2026, and it comes with a major twist. Under the Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) 08/2026, approximately 1,250 to 1,265 vacancies have been released for the prestigious Station Master position.

In a significant move that changes the game for many candidates, the Railway Board has issued a directive to separate the Station Master selection process from the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) recruitment. This means candidates will now face a dedicated and specialized selection track.

A Completely Revised Exam Blueprint

The recruitment cycle marks a massive departure from previous years. The selection process will now consist of a single-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by a Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), Document Verification, and a Medical Examination.

The Merit Formula: Your final selection will be determined by a weightage of 70% from the CBT and 30% from the CBAT. Note that candidates must achieve a minimum T-score of 42 in each battery of the CBAT to qualify.

What’s New in the Syllabus?

The syllabus has undergone a complete overhaul, making it more focused on technical and analytical skills. In a move that will surprise many, General Awareness has been entirely removed from the syllabus. However, for the first time, English Reading Comprehension has been introduced to test linguistic proficiency.

The single-stage CBT will feature 100 questions to be completed in 120 minutes. Here is the breakdown of the marks distribution:

  • Basic Science and Mathematics: 30 marks
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: 30 marks
  • Logical Capability with English Reading Comprehension: 20 marks
  • Mental Reasoning: 20 marks

Keep in mind that there is a negative marking scheme of 1/3 of a mark for every incorrect answer in the CBT.

Eligibility and Salary Perks

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Applicants must hold a graduation degree by November 25, 2026.
  • Age Limit: Candidates must be between 20 and 33 years of age as of January 1, 2027.

The Station Master post is a highly rewarding career path, classified under Pay Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission. Successful recruits will enjoy an initial basic salary of ₹35,400 per month.
