Saharanpur Railway Quarter Bridge Work Speeds Up to End Traffic Woes

Saharanpur is witnessing a significant transformation in its transport landscape as the construction of the railway quarter bridge enters an accelerated phase. This project is a critical component of local infrastructure development, specifically designed to alleviate the chronic traffic congestion that has long impacted the region and to enhance overall public connectivity.

A Massive Infrastructure Push

The acceleration of the bridge project comes amidst a much larger strategic push to modernize transport infrastructure across the country. Recent government initiatives have allocated 58 crore rupees for 424 various construction works. This massive undertaking includes the development of Railway Overbridges (ROBs) and Underpasses (RUBs) spanning across 21 different districts.

Major Overbridge Developments in Saharanpur

The connectivity landscape in Saharanpur is undergoing several high-impact upgrades aimed at long-term efficiency:

  • Ghaziabad-Saharanpur Line: Significant work is underway on a massive four-lane railway overbridge (ROB) at level crossing No. 15C (Spl.)/2T. This major project is scheduled for construction between October 23, 2026, and December 31, 2033.
  • Star Paper Mill ROB: This two-lane structure, which connects the Khan Alampura Yard to DM Awas Road, is nearing its final stages. Despite facing delays due to technical railway works, the project had reached 85% completion as of May 2026 and is now targeted for completion by November 2026.

Localized Infrastructure and Road Safety

Beyond the major overbridges, the district is also addressing localized infrastructure needs to ensure smoother movement for residents:

  • Bridge Reconstruction: The tender process for the reconstruction of narrow bridges on the Turmatkhedi Anantamau Road and the Bundugarh Khalasi area along the Pandukhedi Road concluded on October 22, 2026.
  • City Bridge Improvements: To optimize traffic flow and improve road safety, divider installation began at the Saharanpur city bridge on September 4, 2026.
