Northern Railway to launch a new unreserved Saharanpur-Varanasi festival special train starting October 30, 2026, to manage festive travel.

To tackle the massive surge in passenger numbers during the upcoming festive season, Northern Railway has proposed a new Saharanpur Varanasi Special Train. This unreserved service is designed to bridge the gap between Western and Eastern Uttar Pradesh, making travel significantly easier for thousands of commuters during the holidays.
Key Details of the New Service
The proposed service, designated under train numbers 04552/04551, is specifically aimed at accommodating the high demand for unreserved travel. According to the railway administration's plans, the service is scheduled to commence its operations on October 30, 2026.
Route and Major Halts
The festival special will not only connect these two major hubs but will also provide much-needed connectivity to several intermediate stations. The train is expected to make a total of eight designated stops along its route to facilitate passenger movement.
Confirmed halts for the service include:
- Moradabad
- Bareilly
- Hardoi
By including these key junctions, the Northern Railway aims to streamline travel for passengers moving across the state. The official proposal for the operation of this route was finalized on October 27, 2026, as part of the broader efforts to manage festive travel demand.
