Samastipur-Darbhanga Section: Several trains diverted and short-terminated due to NI work
The East Central Railway’s Samastipur division has announced changes in train operations between Samastipur and Darbhanga. This is due to the final phase of doubling work and Non-Interlocking (NI) activities at Rambhadrapur, Hayaghat, and Thallwara stations. The work will take place from May 9 to May 14, 2026, to improve safety and infrastructure.
Which trains are diverted or short-terminated?
Several long-distance trains running from North Bihar to South India are affected. The Rourkela-Jaynagar Express will now end at Samastipur, and some special trains to Tirupati and Charlapalli have been shifted to alternative routes. The details are as follows:

What is the schedule for the maintenance work?
The railway administration has divided the work into two phases. From May 9 to May 11, 2026, Pre-NI work will be carried out. Following this, the main Non-Interlocking (NI) work will happen from May 12 to May 14, 2026. A Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) inspection is also planned during this period.
