Sambhal Overbridge: 62m Girder Launched at Bahjoi Crossing

A major infrastructure milestone has been achieved in Sambhal as the Indian Railways successfully completed the installation of a massive girder for the new Sambhal railway overbridge.

The critical operation, centered at the Bahjoi intersection (Level Crossing 36B), involved the precision launching of a 62-meter-long girder on Thursday, November 5, 2026.

Technical Operation and Train Disruptions

To facilitate the complex technical requirements of the girder launch, rail traffic on the route was temporarily suspended. This suspension lasted for approximately two hours, which resulted in train delays for several services passing through the area.

Despite the brief disruption to schedules, the successful placement of the heavy structure marks a decisive step forward for the local transport network.

Project Handover and Next Steps

With the railway department having finalized its designated segment of the construction, the project is now transitioning into its next phase. Responsibility for completing the remaining infrastructure of the bridge has been officially handed over to the Setu Nigam (State Bridge Corporation).

Overcoming Previous Delays

The development of this overbridge has faced challenges in the past. Officials previously noted that the project had experienced delays due to the necessity of extensive site preparation and specialized shuttering work required to ensure the structural integrity of the installation.

The ongoing construction remains under the strict oversight of local administrative authorities, including the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, to ensure the project meets all safety and engineering standards.
